CHECK

Step1. Attaching the Injection Needle

  1. Before attaching the injection needle, clean your hands thoroughly and wipe the insulin injection area with a disinfectant swab.

  2. Remove the protective cover from the top of the new injection needle, then securely attach it to the rubber part at the end of the cartridge holder by rotating the needle.

  3. Remove the outer protective cap and inner needle cap from the new pen needle. Keep the outer cap for use when removing the injection needle after injection.

Step2. Priming (Safety Check)

[Accessing the Priming Screen]

  1. Press the [M] button on the main screen for 1 second to access the menu screen.

  2. In the menu, select the "Priming" option, and press the [ACT] button to navigate to the priming screen.

[Priming]

  1. When the "Priming" screen is displayed, hold P8 with the attached needle facing upward. Use your finger or another object to tap the cartridge holder to push any air bubbles in the cartridge as high as possible.

  2. Once priming preparation is complete, press the [▽] button to start the priming process. Continue the priming process until insulin comes out continuously in a few drops. When enough air has been removed, press the [M] button to stop (complete) the priming.

  3. After priming is complete, press the [ACT] button to return to the main screen.

NOTE

  1. If there is a blockage during drug injection or priming, a warning message may be displayed, and a warning sound may be heard.

  2. Before setting the injection dose, it is essential to remove air from the cartridge. The purpose of priming is to check the usability of the attached pen needle and ensure that insulin can be injected correctly. Also, if there are air bubbles inside the cartridge, it may prevent accurate insulin delivery.

Step 3. Setting the Dose and Injecting

[Setting the Dose]

[주입량 설정하기]

  1. Press the [ACT] button on the main screen to access the dose setting screen.

  2. The dose setting screen will initially display the most recent dose as the default setting. If you want to change the dose, use the [△] or [▽] buttons to adjust it.

Short presses of the buttons will change the dose in increments of 0.1U. Long presses of the buttons will change the dose in increments of 1U. (* The dose can be set between a minimum of 0.5U and a maximum of 60U.)

* If you want to inject the previous dose again, you can quickly set the dose using the "Memory Function" in Chapter 4, Section 2 of this manual.

[Injecting]

[주사하기]

  1. Once the settings are complete, place the pen flat on a surface and use a sterilized cotton ball to clean the injection site.

  2. Hold the skin to a thickness of about 5cm, and insert the injection needle rapidly at an angle of 45-90 degrees, depending on your preference.

  3. After inserting the needle, press and release the [ACT] button once to start the injection.

  4. If you need to stop the injection while it is in progress, follow the "Stopping the Injection" procedure below.

  5. As the injection begins, the dose number on the P8 "Injection Screen" will decrease. When the injection is complete, it will change to the "Waiting!" screen.

  6. When the waiting time reaches 0 seconds, the P8 will emit a short beep. This is the signal that the injection is complete. At this point, remove the injection needle from the skin.

    • If you see any blood at the injection site, apply light pressure for a few minutes until the bleeding stops.

[Stopping the Injection]

[주입 중지하기]

If you need to stop the insulin injection due to a situation that arises based on user judgment while the injection is in progress, you can use the provided feature on P8 to stop the injection. When using the pen in conjunction with the DIA:CONN app, using the injection stop function allows for real-time management of the actual injected dose.

  1. While the insulin injection is in progress, press the [M] button to access the "Stop Injection?" screen.

  2. If you wish to stop the injection, press [ACT], and if you wish to continue the injection, press [M].

    * Pressing the [M] button will continue the injection without any additional actions.

  3. When the injection is stopped, it will transition to the waiting screen and then return to the main screen once the injection is complete.

    * Refer to "4.2 Injection-Related Functions" for "Injecting Remaining Dose."

NOTE

Step 4. Post-Injection Procedure

  1. Without touching the injection needle or the outer cap with your hands, place the injection needle cap on a flat surface and guide the tip of the injection needle into the cap.

  2. Once the injection needle is secured inside the outer cap, carefully push the outer injection needle fully into place.

  3. Unscrew the injection needle and dispose of it following the instructions of a physician, nurse, pharmacist, or health authority.

  4. Close the cap on the used insulin pen to protect it from light.
