CHECK
If you are using the product for the first time, make sure to thoroughly review the user manual and follow the steps below. Before initial use, the battery must be fully charged, and during charging, the injection function of the device will be limited.
When using DIA:CONN P8 for the first time, it comes with factory default settings. Therefore, you need to complete the initial setup yourself before using DIA:CONN P8. Follow the steps below to get started.
Step 1. Turning On the P8

The initial setup is designed to enter sleep mode and turn off the screen if it remains idle for more than 30 seconds (the initial setting value). To turn the screen back on, press the [ACT] button once.
Step 4. Initial Cartridge Replacement
WARNING
Before replacing the insulin cartridge, be sure to accurately confirm the manufacturer and type of insulin.
Using a cartridge from a different manufacturer may result in differences in injection volume due to variations in inner diameter.
If the type of insulin is different, the bolus calculator may suggest an incorrect injection amount.
To insert a cartridge for the first time or to replace a cartridge, follow the steps below. Always have a new cartridge ready.
Cartridge Replacement Preparation
Before replacing the cartridge, remove the P8 cover and cartridge holder, as shown in the figure, and prepare the cartridge to be inserted into the P8 and the pen needle.

Once the cartridge-related settings are completed, the plunger will return to its initial state.
Cartridge Insertion
1. [Caution] When replacing the insulin cartridge, please make sure that the cartridge information set in the pen matches the manufacturer and type of insulin cartridge you are inserting. Using a different cartridge type than what is configured in the insulin pen can lead to both Hypoglycemia and Hyperglycemia. When the plunger resets and the "Please insert a new cartridge" screen flashes (for up to 5 minutes), insert the new insulin cartridge you prepared into the cartridge holder. * Two types of cartridge holders are provided, and you should use the type that matches each cartridge.
2. Then, attach the cartridge-inserted holder to the P8.
Proceed with Cartridge Replacement
Once the cartridge attachment is complete, press the [ACT] button. The screen will change to "Cartridge connecting," and the plunger will start moving for the final connection.
When the plunger meets the cartridge and the maximum cartridge capacity is confirmed, plunger movement will stop, and the screen will change to "Connect a new injection needle."
Pen Needle Attachment and Air Removal
When the "Connect a new injection needle" screen is displayed, attach the prepared pen needle to the P8. After the needle attachment is complete, press the [ACT] button to go to the "Air Removal" screen.
Note that when attaching the needle, injection fluid may flow out due to cartridge compression.
Refer to "Step 1. Pen Needle Attachment" in Chapter 3.1 of this user manual for instructions on attaching the pen needle
When the "Air Removal" screen is displayed, hold the P8 with the attached needle pointing upward and tap the cartridge holder with your finger or other objects to lift any air bubbles in the cartridge as much as possible.
Once the air removal preparation is complete, press the ▽ button to proceed with air removal. Continue air removal until insulin comes out continuously in a few drops.
When enough air has been removed, press the [M] button to stop (complete) air removal.
After completing air removal, press the [ACT] button to complete the cartridge replacement process.
For subsequent cartridge replacements, please refer to "4.2 Cartridge Replacement" in this manual, Chapter 4, Section 2.
Note
The "Please insert a new cartridge" screen and the "Connect a new injection needle" screen will be displayed for 5 minutes to allow the user to proceed. If the time elapses and the screen goes off, entering sleep mode, you will need to restart the cartridge replacement process from the beginning. Therefore, it is advisable to prepare a new cartridge and a new injection needle in advance before proceeding with the cartridge replacement.
