CAUTION
Before replacing the cartridge, check the condition of the insulin cartridge you intend to use.
Dispose of used cartridges according to the disposal methods recommended by each manufacturer.
If the cartridge is attached to the pen, store the pen at room temperature. Also, when purchasing insulin cartridges, it's advisable to refer to the manufacturer's information and manual for cartridge storage methods, expiration dates, and other recommendations.
Step 1: Cartridge Replacement Preparation
Remove the P8 cover and cartridge holder for cartridge replacement. Prepare the cartridge to be inserted into P8 and the pen needle.
Step 2: Navigate to Cartridge Replacement Menu
On the main screen, press the [M] button for about 1 second to access the menu screen.
Press the [△] or [▽] button to select the "Cartridge" menu and then press the [ACT] button.
Step 3: Cartridge and Insulin Type Configuration
In the settings screen, press the [△] or [▽] button to select the manufacturer information for the cartridge and then press the [ACT] button to proceed.
You can choose from Novo, Sanofi, Lilly, Berlin, or DIA:CONN.
In the next settings screen, press the [△] or [▽] button to select the "Insulin Type" information and then press the [ACT] button.
You can choose from Ultra-rapid acting, Rapid acting, Long-acting, NPH and Premix.
Once the cartridge-related settings are complete, the plunger will return to its initial state.
Step 4: Cartridge Insertion
After the plunger has been initialized and the screen displays "Please insert a new cartridge," insert the new insulin cartridge you prepared into the cartridge holder.
Make sure to use the type of holder that matches the cartridge you are using, as there are two types available.
Then, attach the cartridge-inserted holder to P8.
WARNING
When replacing the insulin cartridge, please make sure that the cartridge information set in the pen matches the manufacturer and type of insulin cartridge you are inserting. Using a different cartridge type than what is configured in the insulin pen can lead to both Hypoglycemia and Hyperglycemia.Step 5. Cartridge Replacement Process
After the cartridge is properly connected, press the [ACT] button. The screen will change to the "Connecting Cartridge" screen, and the plunger will start moving for the final connection.
When the plunger meets the cartridge and the maximum cartridge capacity is confirmed, the plunger movement will stop, and the screen will change to the "Attach a New Needle!" screen.
Step 6. Attaching the Pen Needle and Priming
When the "Attach a New Needle!" screen is displayed, attach the prepared pen needle to P8. Once the needle is properly connected, press the [ACT] button to proceed to the "Priming" screen.
Note that during needle attachment, there may be some leakage due to cartridge compression.
For instructions on attaching the pen needle, refer to "Chapter 3, Section 1, Step 1" in the user manual.
On the "Priming" screen, hold P8 with the attached needle facing upward. Use your finger or another object to tap the cartridge holder to push any air bubbles in the cartridge as high as possible.
Once priming preparation is complete, press the [▽] button to start priming. Continue priming until insulin comes out continuously in a few drops. When enough air has been removed, press the [M] button to stop (complete) priming.
After priming is complete, press the [ACT] button to return to the main screen.
CHECK
The "Please insert a new cartridge" screen and the "Connect a new injection needle" screen are maintained for 5 minutes to allow user progress, and after this time, the screen will turn off, entering sleep mode. If this happens, you will need to start the cartridge replacement process from the beginning, so it's advisable to prepare a new cartridge and a new needle in advance before proceeding.
